Carolyn, freelance Canine Media Consultant, has had close associations with the Canine Film Academy since its conception in 1998.
She has attended all the levels of training with her Gold Clicker Dog, Digby, and has graduated from the Professionals class.
She started her canine career working with Dr Roger Mugford, (animal psychologist, and psychiatrist to the Queen's Corgis!), as his assistant, ghost writer, and general dogsbody. During this time she also did a lot of legal work, helping dogs and owners who had found themselves in trouble as a result of the UK's draconian anti-dog laws.
After leaving Roger she moved on to work at Dogs Today as Deputy Editor and Features Writer. During this time she wrote on such diverse topics as psychic dogs to the heinous dog fur trade, toilet training pups to canine victims of domestic violence. Carolyn quickly developed a strong following among the readers with her individual style of writing and in-depth coverage of relevant doggie issues.
Even after leaving to pursue a freelance career, she still continues to write regular features for Dogs Today. This also involves doing much of her own photography, and has recently extended this skill to include being the CFA official photographer for the May 2001 shoot, and also photographer for the Polish Lowland Sheepdog Championship show
Carolyn and Digby (her CFA trained Polish Lowland Sheepdog) have recently finished work on a new canine TV series for Carlton TV called What's Up Dog? (Digby plays the 'well trained dog'!). The series also stars Katie Boyle and Joe Inglis (Vets In Practice).
So far What's Up Dog? has only been shown in the Central region but hopefully it will be re-shown by other regions before the end of the year, with a second national series planned for next year.
Both Carolyn and Digby have more TV and video work in the pipeline. Carolyn and Digby have also done several other national TV shows including Wish You Were Here (Pet Travel Scheme) and We Can Work It Out as 'doggie expert'.
As part of her solo media career (ie without Digby!) Carolyn has run dog training classes on radio (!), has done more than 40 other radio interviews (including making Radio 4's Pick Of the Week) and has appeared on various regional TV programmes (the drama school training finally paid off!).
Carolyn is available for writing commissions, editing, and any media work, and can be contacted by email at carolyn.menteith@sniffout.com
Digby is always available for anything to do with stardom or food!!
