| One of the newest stars of the silver screen is more likely to be seen
pounding the pavements of Sunningdale.
Nelson, a 15-month-old puppy, will soon hit the cinema in 102 Dalmatians alongside Hollywood superstar Glenn Close. But Nelson has to thank the Canine Film Academy for launching him on the road to stardom. The country's largest canine academy trains dogs to appear before the cameras and has been running in Sunningdale for two years. The academy was the brainchild of Katie Rourke, who never believed her idea would be so successful. She said: "If someone had told me two years ago that I would now be running the largest dog film training school in the country, I would have thought they were joking. "We have been extremely successful, with dogs appearing in |
various films and music videos, such as one for the group Another Level.
Some have even gone international, appearing for adverts for the New York
Times
"I was working for another dog training school, but they were more interested in competitive obedience classes. I really wanted to do a pure tricks class, where owners could come along and just have fun." If you think your dog might have what it takes to be a star, or you would like to find out more about the Canine Film Academy and the courses on offer, call Katie on 01344 29 14 65 Virginia Water Gazette.
